Concrete surfaces in potable water treatment plants are in constant contact with water, so over time they need to be refurbished. The solution has two parts: the surface and corners are levelled with VANDEX CEMLINE MG 4 repair mortar, and the final protective lining is made with VANDEX BB 75 cementitious waterproofing.
What this solution is for
Refurbishment and waterproofing of concrete walls and floors in existing potable water treatment plants. The solution follows the Vandex specification for potable water structures.

Materials used
- VANDEX CEMLINE MG 4 – fibre-reinforced repair mortar: levels the surface, fills joints and corners and increases the concrete cover to the reinforcement.
- VANDEX BB 75 – cementitious waterproofing coating used as the final lining.
Application steps
- Optional: break out a reglet (approx. 30 × 30 mm) along the construction joints with a hammer drill. Point the reglet and form a fillet with a suitable mortar, preferably VANDEX CEMLINE MG 4.
Vertical surfaces
- Apply one layer of VANDEX CEMLINE MG 4 as a surface leveller, also to increase the concrete cover to the reinforcement.
- Apply two coats of VANDEX BB 75 as the final lining.
Horizontal surfaces
- Apply one layer of VANDEX CEMLINE MG 4 as a surface leveller, also to increase the concrete cover to the reinforcement.
- Apply two coats of VANDEX BB 75 as the final lining.
Good to know
- Substrate adhesion strength must be above 1.5 N/mm².
